Exercises for the biceps with dumbbells

The biceps brachii is the main motor of elbow flexion along with the brachialis anterior, it also has a primary role in supination. The biceps has two parts the short head and the long head.

It is an easy muscle to exercise with dumbbells, being able to perform exercises from very simple with the classic standing biceps crul, to congestion exercises such as sitting biceps with the elbow resting on the thigh.

The triceps brachii must be worked in the same proportion as its antagonist, the biceps. In addition, you should always perform stretching exercises for the biceps, triceps and shoulder in general.

For proper biceps muscle building we have to perform biceps exercises as a whole, that is, both portions at the same time; exercises for the short portion, for example biceps with the hands apart; exercises for the long head, for example biceps with the hands close together; biceps exercises with hands in pronation and supination.

The biceps is considered a movement muscle, experts in functional work or gymnastics recommend working on resistance and strength in the second degree of movement muscles.

The biceps in sports

The biceps is essential in sports where elbow flexion is important such as climbing, rowing or boxing.
