Dumbbell exercises for the lats
It is a large and strong muscle located in the posterior area, it covers a large part of the back in a fan shape and together with the subscapularis and the teres major they form the back of the armpit. Its main functions are according to this the fixed hand or the fixed trunk. In the first case, it is the abductor and extensor of the arm, taking it behind the buttocks. In the second case, the fixed trunk, brings the body closer to the hand, as in a chin-up.
It is not an easy muscle to work with dumbbells, since its basic forms of work are in the form of chin-ups or with a machine with a high pulley and pulling down with a fixed hip. There are a few exercises that strengthen both the teres major and the dorsi, but they need to be performed with careful technique.
The number in sport
In all sports where there is an abduction of the arm or in which an action similar to climbing has to be performed. For example swimming , rowing, climbing, gymnastics or fighting sports.
